Listening to the Lake.jpgHistory Day 2008: If this lake could talk, what story would it tell?

On September 6, 2008, Historic Saranac Lake invited the community to come tell the stories of Lower Saranac Lake at the Guggenheim Camp. We were thrilled with the outpouring of interest and participation in the event. Over 200 local Saranac Lakers, summer residents, and vacationers converged on Guggenheim. Stories were shared on the great hotels, the early camps, famous visitors, the platform tents, and more. See the [WWW]''Press Republican article about History Day''.

A large cast of volunteers pitched in to create more than twenty displays. From February through mid March, 2009 the displays are being shown in the Cantwell Room of the Saranac Lake Free Library. HSL continues to collect the history of the lake, and invites the public to add information to the topics below or to contact us with their stories.
