Margaret Emma Merritt, nee Mahady, was living at 73 Broadway in 1940, 50 Main Street in 1948, at 4 St. Bernard Street in 1950, and 12 Main Street from the mid 1950s until her death. In 1950 she was employed by Miss Ruth Effenbach at 73 Broadway.

Margaret E. Merritt

Mrs. Benjamin F. Merritt, 78 died at 3 p. m. Tuesday at a Malone Nursing Home where she had been a patient for a month. She had lived at 12 Main St., Saranac Lake.

Mrs. Merritt was born Margaret E. Mahady on Aug. 11, 1888 in Brooklyn. She came to Saranac Lake 34 year ago and had operated nursing homes. Her husband, Benjamin F. Merritt, died in 1945.

Survivors are two sons, John of Liverpool, N. Y. and Frank of Lewisburg, Pa.; five grandchildren;and a sister, Mrs. Grace Eckel of Downers Grove, Ill.

Friends may call at the Fortune Funeral Home where the funeral service will be held at 2 p. m. Thursday. The Rev. George Sailer, pastor of the Adirondack Presbyterian Parish, will conduct the service. Interment will be in May in Pine Ridge Cemetery.
