Pliny Miller's Sawmill (Adirondack Daily Enterprise, March 18, 2006)
Early Adirondack settlements invariably occurred where rivers dropped sufficiently to enable water-powered mills to be built. Captain Pliny Miller's 1827 dam on the Saranac River, which created Lake Flower, was typical of the era.
