The island directly above Deer Island is Eagle Island. To the right of Eagle Island is a small archipelago of islands including Doctor's Island and Birch Island.
Panther Mountain is a 2241-foot mountain at the southern end of Upper Saranac Lake. Nearby Panther Pond and Panther Mountain Road are named for the mountain.
