Shepard Avenue

Shepard Avenue, on Helen Hill was named for Colonel Eliot Shepard, a son-in-law of William H. Vanderbilt. "When a man curing here named Shepard built a home for the [Presbyterian] minister out of appreciation and respect, they named a street 'Shepard' for him." ¹ It runs north from River Street to a dead end after Prescott Place.
